Requiem Aeternam - PHILOSOPHER (2004)

Requiem Aeternam "from the Latin, meaning" resting, "as well," Requiem "Eternal," the union of two names-began its activities in September 1995 in Montevideo, Uruguay, featuring their first single, "Emergent," in a local compilation (Underscream), recorded by Martin Lopez (Amon Amarth, Opeth) on drums, Martin Mendez (Opeth) on bass and vocals, Pablo Magallanes (Scarpoint) on guitar, and Jose Romero Sum (Inner Sanctum) on guitar, keyboards, and vocals .

In 1997, the band-now a trio: Fabián Redondo on drums, Marcelo Aguilar on bass, and JRS-recorded their debut LP at the Record of Montevideo, mixed in Chile by Jose Corral (Criminal, Inner Sanctum) and mastered in Argentina by David Santos (Riff, Hermetic). "Eternally Dying" was released in July 1998 through Icorp and distributes worldwide for Furies / Orion Music.

The video clip of "Infamy" was aired on MTV Latino and MTV Brazil and other Latin American channels. Soon he filmed the video for "Come Back." The "Eternally Tour" (1998-2000) included numerous performances in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. In April 2002, JRS published the book "Forbidden Writings," which is largely philosophical and economic issues, although it has a poetic chapter includes the original point of the court "Eternally Dying."

Shortly after that JRS immigrated to the United States in 2002, Maciej Kupiszewski on bass and Alex Hernandez (Immolation) on drums joined the band. His second album, "Philosopher," was recorded and mixed between May and June 2004 in the Big Blue Meenie studios in New Jersey by Joe Pedulla and Arun Venkatesh (Overkill, All Out War) and mastered in New York in July by Tom Hutten ( Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters). This album was released in December 2004 by Trinity Records Hong Kong in Asia, Europe and North America in March 2005 Rawforce Records in South America except Argentina, for Furies / Orion Music in Argentina, and distributed through The Art Records in Mexico and Central America.

Lyrics of "Philosopher" are based in part on the bibliographies of Gautama, Seneca, Rousseau, Heraclitus, Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, and Lao Tse, besides the title song is set in the "Forbidden Writings" of JRS. Musically, Requiem Aeternam defines his style as "Metal Philosophy," as it combines different philosophical ideologies with different musical influences.

In 2005, Requiem Aeternam was drafted into the major heavy metal festivals in USA, including Milwaukee and Norwest Death Metal Fest, among others, participating in many metal compilations in Europe and North America. The official launch of "Philosopher" was held at CBGB's, New York, days before it was definitively closed many legendary place. Video clip of "Wisdom" was broadcast by several television stations throughout North and Latin America.
